Ways To Get Involved

Fostering

Fostering is an essential part of 10 Lives Rescue's mission to provide rescued cats and kittens with safe, healthy, and happy homes while preparing them for adoption. Fosters play a key role in ensuring these animals receive the care and love they need before finding their lifelong families.

Event Planning

Event planning volunteers assist with organizing and running fundraisers, adoption events, and community outreach programs, each contributing to giving cats a second chance at life.

Administrative Support

Administrative volunteers assist with tasks such as managing records, coordinating communications, processing applications, and supporting the organization of events. Every contribution helps streamline efforts and provides the foundation for successful rescue and adoption initiatives.

It is with the strong and incredible people who work with 10 Lives that I have found my most meaningful community and kinship. It takes a special type of resilience and fearlessness to a learn of the catastrophic cat crisis facing NYC and decide to help anyway, against all odds. I knew the founders of 10 Lives before the organization was officially established and already then they took on the responsibility of fighting the uphill battle facing the cats of this city. Without the expectation of recognition, payment, or so much as a pat on the back, these heroic women trudge forward to better the lives of the innocent creatures who suffer at the hands of a broken and forgotten system.

Bringing my two former street cats inside changed everything. Sure, they took over my furniture, my schedule, and 80% of my camera roll—but they also opened my eyes to just how many cats are still out there, struggling to survive. That realization led me to Ten Lives, where I found not just a way to help, but a community of advocates determined to make a difference.
The best part? The compassion doesn’t stop with the cats. It’s a supportive, funny, and ridiculously kind group of people who just get it (because honestly, who else am I supposed to spam with cat photos?).
The world feels overwhelming right now, but here’s the thing: the challenges Ten Lives tackles—cat overpopulation and helping pet owners keep their pets—are actually solvable. With dedication, resources, and community, real change isn’t just possible—it’s happening.

I love working with 10 Lives Rescue because it was founded by some of the most amazing women in animal welfare. I’ve known these incredible ladies for two years now, and I continue to be inspired by everything they accomplish—not just for the cats we rescue, but for each other as a team. From the start, they’ve supported me and made sure I could balance my schoolwork while still staying involved. We’ve had a lot of "foster fails," but that’s because we are deeply committed to our fosters well beyond what’s required. Our fosters are the heart of our success, and I’m so grateful to be part of a team that always puts them first.
